Well fingers crossed that Spring is finally here?! We have had a tough battle with the weather so far, many late night shifts crop protecting. Because of the early Spring weather everything is ahead of time…We are tentatively planning to open the market May 15th. Another perfect weekend on the farm! The Fall Harvest Celebration and Chili Cookoff was awesome! Thank you again to all that made it out to the farm and A BIG thanks to all of our teams that participated in the cookoff! We hope to make it bigger better next year! And on a more sad note, we only have one week left open at the farm market! That means 7 more days for folks to get their fix of donuts! We are looking for 6-8 teams to bring their “A” game in chili to the farm! Along with the pretty trophy, we will be awarding the winner with a $50 gift certificate to the farm, a great basket of apples, and misc fruits and veggies, as well as 4 passes to the Rockin the Farm corn maze!
Chili Rules:
1. Wild game is not permitted.
2. Home canned veggies are not permitted.
3. Utensils must be sanitized before cooking. (Tanks are provided)
4. Keep hands washed – constantly. (Buckets provided)
5. No smoking or drinking in food prep areas.
6. Latex gloves (provided) must be worn when prepping food and
serving the public.
7. Only food prep people are allowed under the tent during food
Prep (10:15-11:00). No open drinks during that time.
8. No porcelain lined pans. Aluminum or stainless steel only.
9. Chili (2 gals. minimum) cannot be served until 2:15.
10. No alcoholic beverages are to be brought onto the premises.
11. Cooks must register by 9:30
12. Cooks meeting at 9:45
13. Food prep starts at 10:15
14. Stove lighting at noon
15. Cook until 2:00
The weekend is almost here and we have our fingers crossed that we have good weather yet again! Stop out this weekend to pick Jonathons, Fujis, Jonagolds, MacIntosh, and Honeycrisp. Also, if you haven’t tried our salsa, make sure to stop in the barn and sample the peach, corn and blackbean salsas! Last, tis the season for pumpkins, the patch is full and ready for picking!
We will be opening both u-pick apples and the Rockin the Farm Corn Maze this weekend. The kickoff will be on Saturday. Please notate our updated hours for the Fall 2011 season. Apples available for picking this weekend will be Galas and Honeycrisp. Corn maze and wagon ride are as follows: 2& under are free, 3-12 $5.00 and 13& up $6.00. Please feel free to email and/or call with any further questions! If you would like to plan a group outing, please call ahead to set up. Also, just as a note, we ask that everyone parks on the WEST side of the white barns. Parking signs will direct you to the correct location.
